How to Make ChatGPT Text Sound Human (5 Proven Techniques)

ChatGPT-generated text has recognizable fingerprints — not just to AI detectors, but to human readers. Here are five proven techniques to eliminate them.

1. Break Sentence Symmetry

AI models love parallel structures. "First... Second... Finally..." — this predictable rhythm signals machine authorship. Vary your sentence openings: start some with conjunctions, some with adverbs, some with the subject buried mid-sentence.

2. Remove Transition Robots

Words like "Furthermore," "Moreover," "In conclusion," and "It is worth noting that" appear at dramatically higher rates in AI text. Delete them. Replace with actual connective logic, or simply start the next sentence without a connector.

3. Add Personal Hedging

Real writers hedge naturally: "I think," "in my experience," "to be honest." AI tends to state everything with equal certainty. Sprinkle in genuine uncertainty where it exists.

4. Vary Sentence Length

Measure the standard deviation of your sentence lengths. AI text has unnaturally low variance — sentences cluster around 15–25 words. Mix in some 5-word punches. And occasionally, a longer sentence that winds through its argument the way a careful writer does when they want to slow the reader down.

5. Use Cross-Model Humanization

The most effective technique is cross-model rewriting: using a different AI (Claude) to rewrite text originally generated by ChatGPT. This eliminates stylistic fingerprints at the model level, not just the surface level.
